According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), formerly known as food stamps, only covers food items intended for human consumption. Because of this federal mandate, you cannot buy laundry detergent with EBT, as it is classified as a non-food household item.
