Does Bitter Melon Contain Cucurbitacin?

Over 100 species of cucurbitacins have been identified across the plant kingdom, and bitter melon, a member of the Cucurbitaceae family, does contain cucurbitacin-type compounds. However, bitter melon also contains a unique set of these compounds known as momordicosides, which are thought to be different from the highly toxic cucurbitacins found in some other plants.
