According to a 2022 study in the Journal of Nutritional Science, many commercially produced suji rusks contain a blend of refined flours, despite being marketed as wholesome. However, at its core, a traditional suji rusk is made of semolina (suji), a coarsely ground grain from durum wheat. This provides a distinctively grainy texture and a satisfying crunch that is perfect for dipping in tea.

While many assume multigrain bread is automatically healthy, commercial varieties often contain refined white flour, or maida, as a base. It is possible to have multigrain bread without maida, but you must carefully check the ingredients to ensure you are getting a truly wholesome product.
