Sucralose is approximately 600 times sweeter than table sugar, a fact that explains why only a tiny amount is needed to achieve a desired sweetness level in foods and beverages. By definition, this makes sucralose a non-nutritive sweetener (NNS), a category of substances that provide intense sweetness with little to no caloric content.
