According to the Ontario Poison Centre, peach pits contain cyanide compounds that are poisonous. The kernels inside peach pits contain amygdalin, a chemical that converts to toxic cyanide when digested. For this reason, consuming peach pits, particularly crushed or ground kernels, poses a significant health risk and is generally not recommended.
