According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), sucrose fatty acid esters (E473) are generally recognized as safe (GRAS) for consumption as a food additive. This designation, however, doesn't stop many from questioning if these common emulsifiers are bad for you, especially given their frequent use in processed foods.
